We Value our Customers!

The Arms Trucking Group was founded in 1953 and incorporated in 1963. Owner Howard Bates started working for Arms in the garage in the late sixties. The company has expanded to about 150 employees and 100 power units, both semi trucks and straight trucks to accommodate our customers’ needs.

We value all of our customers big and small. From every day accounts to one load of stone for someone’s driveway. In order to serve our customer base, we offer a professional staff of dispatchers that offer 24-hour customer service, 7 days a week. We know time is money which is why our trucks are armed with GPS units that track your load in live time.

Family run business.

Howard’s son and daughter have joined Arms Trucking. In 2002, Brian Bates came on board to help with general operations of Arms Trucking. Brian came to Arms with a degree from Ohio State and 3 years experience as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent at Sand Ridge Golf Club. He was the driving force in launching Arms Turf.

In 2003, Howard’s daughter Abbie Logan joined the Arms Trucking team.

Headquarters:

Arms Trucking headquarters is in the former Claridon Elementary School in East Claridon. After the school district closed the school several years ago Arms bought the building, part of it dating back to the early 1900’s. The company remodeled the school for its offices and dispatch center–the rest is unchanged from when it was a school with classrooms, hallways lined with lockers and a gym.

Located at 14818 Mayfield Rd.

Community:

Howard Bates is active in the community and believes that giving back is important for his company and himself. He is active with the Geauga County Fairboard and was the president from 2009 – 2010. He is always there to lend a hand and volunteer himself or his company’s resources. In 2008, along with the Geauga Rotary, he helped see that a Bookmobile was delivered to a community in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

In 2007, Howard Bates received the Emerald Leader Award. This award is presented annually to an individual, a business and/or a non-profit agency that exemplifies outstanding leadership by positive contributions through volunteerism, philanthropy, or innovation that impact the quality of life in Geauga County.
